Little Pigeon Baptist Church

Little Pigeon Baptist is seeking God’s will for our new pastor, a man who preaches the entire Word of God, nurtures spiritual growth, and leads with a servant’s heart.  We are a very loving congregation of approximately 50.  The original Little Pigeon Baptist was formed in 1816 and our present location was founded in 1840.  State historical records indicate we are the oldest continuously active Baptist Church in Indiana.  While we are an independent Baptist church, we align with the Southern Baptists doctrinally.

Qualifications:  Must be a born again, baptized believer.  Must believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, and seeks to preach and minister by its principles.  Must meet the Biblical qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4.  Demonstrate a clear calling by God to be a pastor.

Responsibilities:  Prepare and deliver expository preaching for Sunday morning worship.  Prepare and lead Wednesday evening Bible study.  Provide a balanced ministry of preaching, teaching, evangelism and pastoral care.

Little Pigeon Baptist is located in Spencer County, just off highway 231 at county road 1250, approximately 30 miles from Owensboro.  Our members represent most every community within the county.  We are proud of our historical heritage during Abe Lincoln’s formative years.  In fact; his father Thomas help build the original Little Pigeon church.  The church is approximately 6 miles from Santa Claus, the largest town in the county and famous for Holiday World theme park.  While agriculture is a significant part of our area.  Major employers include AEP, a major electrical power plant, Cleveland Clift steel processing plant, Spencer Industries, a leader in plastic thermoforming, Kimball Manufacturing. a leader in office, health and hospitality furnishings, and many more smaller businesses.  Spencer County borders the Ohio River with a population of about 20,000.  Two excellent high schools, 2 middle schools and numerous elementary grade schools, all score exceptionally well compared to state test results
